So we made it through 2012 and not without our share of scares either. Dan's company was forced to lay off over a 100 workers after the elections, won't even go into politics and a rant on how I feel about that outcome. So, we did what we normally would pray for job security and at the last minute it came through after some reshuffling they felt Dan was needed and was left still with a job unless they decide to axe more people again after the sequestration. I love that his company loves him enough to keep him on when he could go someone else and make more, but that trade would be working a ton more and he likes his 40hr work weeks.
Patrick is growing like a weed literally the poor kid needs bigger clothes at 16 months I was hoping to hold off for 2 more before buying some new ones. But next payday this kid is getting a new wardrobe from Carter's ddi I mention Carter's is where I buy all his clothes I love their stuff. He was spoiled rotten for Christmas and his birthday by mom and dad and his grandparents. New words: Ball, Obie, Kitty, Sam, what, why, daddy, Kelly (insert evil glare to Dan, Patrick won't call me mom), hey, bye and a few more. Our ped is not concerned about vocabulary development he never stops, apparently it is supposed to be payback according to my parents I talked all the time.
New news we are moving after we sell the current home to a bigger and more spacious one thank heavens. What this means 2 bathrooms instead of one, more space for storage and a garage. We still have 2 more things to do at the house before we list but we are excited to list. After 7 years with no storage and now having a toddler that collects gifts we are moving about 20 minutes from our currently city to either Herriman or Bluffdale, both are great school districts to be in too. Perk of Bluffdale is that we will be 10 minutes from my in laws meaning they can spend more time with him and babysit more often. After we sell we are also doing something a little crazy building our new home.
I'm actually pretty excited by this other than Dan missing out on Patrick for a few months while me, the animals and the baby stay with my parents. Free rent! Dan will be staying here in UT with his parents since he has to work, but in the end it will work out for the best. Also, Dan found out last week that he got a raise of 4% which just gives us a lot of breathing room every paycheck since you know the government loves to tax us wealthy to death (yes sarcasm there).

A blog about us Zollo's!
I love to write, everyone knows that. So I figured what could one more blog hurt right? Instead of this being about crafts, TV shows, my writing projects and other things. I decided to blog about our family. Let me start off with a little background Dan and I have been together since my junior year of high school and his senior year of high school and we realized last week we've been together nearly 12 years. WOW. I'm currently a work at home mom, I own my own baby boutique business where I specialize in cloth wipes, car seat covers and burp cloth sets. Before that I worked an array of job after finishing up my degree in 2004. Assistant Store manager for over 4 years at JCP, until they closed the one in my home town the year before Dan and I got married. Call centers for a while, I worked for a crazy attorney for 6 months. I worked for a well known artist's company under his son and DIL (fun times) they were nuts and should never own or work together. A vet office for over 3 years (way fun and we still take our animals there!) and recently before I had Patrick at the University here in Utah.
Do I miss my old lifestyle of working sometimes. Now Dan on the other hand, has been at the same job since 2004. He is a computer software engineer for a defense contractor, who more than likely if the current administration is elected again this year, will be out of a job next year. But we won't worry about that at the moment, God will take care of that. He always does. Dan and I are both Christians and belong to our local church. Dan is a Royal Rangers leader. I teach Sunday school, women's bible study and am the children's pastor at our church. We also do marriage counseling.
We have 2 dogs a 10 year old black lab named Obie and a 6 year old golden retriever named Sampson. We also have a siamese cat named Shaniqua who is 10, they were our babies until we had Patrick last year. I love my animals, I value them dearly and in 2010 we lost my 4 year old orange tabby, Aslan to kitty HCM.
What you need to know about me as a mom I cloth diaper, want some more information on it I will talk to you about it all day. I don't make our own baby food, I don't have the time, sorry. We vaccinate, I believe that vaccines help with the prevention of disease. I let Patrick try various food, according to our pediatrician he's probably going to have my metabolism. If i haven't scared anyone off by now I should probably get to why I picked the blog name I did.
While I was pregnant and we found out we were having a boy Dan and I couldn't decide on a name to save our life, our top pick was Han. Seriously, it was Han and then we realized that was just mean Han Zollo (yes you pronounce the name like Solo but with a Z). I was allowed to put one irish name on the list and I really liked Patrick. Dan's middle name is Stuart. So when we put Patrick Stuart together it made perfect sense, until our geeky side kicked in and we realized Patrick Stewart played Jean Luc Picard on Start Trek. Who's make it so number one line, is just well awesome. Perhaps son two will be Jonathan Franks Zollo?
Anywho all this talk about a boy named Patrick and I guess I should share him with you all. I had 3 miscarriages before we wound up pregnant. I had surgery at 18 weeks for a 10cm cyst and put his life into God's hands and God took care of him. Patrick was born on 11/1/11 at 1:22 pm pretty ironic to me all the 1's in that. Did I mention that 11/1 is also All Saint's Day, or that Patrick is the patron saint of engineers and paralegals? Dan is an engineer and I have my degree, as a paralegal. He was 7lbs and 19 inches long and perfect. Now he is 9 months old, crawling, babbling, into everything and such a ladies man we're going to have our hands full.

So what do I like to do in my spare time other than be a stay at home mom and sew baby things to sell? I love to cook when I can focus and not be distracted and the crock pot is our best friend in the Zollo house. I love to read, if i could read all day I would. I also love to write and have written many online serials, of which I'm way to nervous to post any of the links here yet. I also love to knit when I have the time and have made some killer hats, gloves and gifts! I love to watch TV for me it is a relaxing way to end my day snuggled up on the couch with Dan and the TV after the monkey above goes to sleep.
